Citizen Rothstein

Ava Rothstein is the illustrious thirteen year old socialite, and

notorious Upper East Side private schooler we all love to hate. We never hear from Ava Rothstein herself, but in the week leading up to her highly publicized and epic Bat Mitzvah, we learn about her through the people in her life.

They are: Post-Traumatic Stress Disordered Rabbi; Unflappable

Publicist; Neglected, UPENN Obsessed 5 Year Old Sister; Philanthropist

Mother; Parisian Best Friend; and Jill Zarin, star of The Real Housewives of New York City.

Written and Performed by Nicole Shabtai

"Citizen Rothstein has all the elements one expects from a good show, namely, big characters with clearly defined behavioral quirks and strong points-of-view, but because of the compelling narrative around which the piece is wrapped, it never feels like anything other than theater."

"Shabtai radiates an undeniable charisma that somebody is going to capture on film for mainstream audiences to appreciate."

The C Word

***Best Solo Show of 2010!*** - Time Out NY

Pam Murphy was an amazing woman, then she got breast cancer. Whoops. Now, as an even more amazing woman, Pam shares her story through comedy. Take a journey with Pam... as she capitalizes on the worst thing that's ever happened to her.

Written and performed by Pam Murphy

Directed by Rebecca Drysdale

"Best solo show of 2010 - The C Word is neither sentimental nor detached, only unflinching and very, very funny."

- Time Out New York [newyork.ucbtheatre.com]

"Murphy is a skilled joke writer. It’s clear that she wanted The C Word to be, above all else, funny. Not revelatory or soul-searching or didactic or triumphant, just very, very funny."

- Time Out New York [newyork.ucbtheatre.com]

Murphy was aiming for honesty, and she totally nailed it, while still managing to get lots of laughs. She skipped the soul-searching and just focused on the reality—breast cancer isn’t fun. But she made it through, and now she’s making it funny.

- Ladies' Home Journal [lhj.com]

"Ready or not, you're going to laugh plenty at this show. This is a comedy show about cancer. Don't be scared and jump onboard for the ride."

-TheComicsComic.com [thecomicscomic.com]

"Murphy demonstrates that comedy could perhaps more precisely be defined as 'Time + Tragedy + A Series of Tightly Written Sketches Performed With High Energy and Inimitable Commitment.'"

-

TheApiary.org

"The C Word, which is the best-scripted one-act to grace UCBT this year—and performed with wit, grace, and pitch-perfect comedic

timing. Murphy has what it takes to follow the lead of such other breakout UCBT talents as Lennon Parham, Aziz Ansari, and Donald Glover, who all became prime time network TV stars. Catch Murphy before LA steals her away."
