Chris Gethard's MAGIC *BUS* OF STORIES
Chris Gethard (The Stepfathers, Nights of Our Lives) has many bizarre stories from his life. Between Asssscat, Nights of Our Lives, and his own one-man show (Chris Gethard's MAGIC BOX OF STORIES) he has told dozens of them on stage. Now, he's taking his audience on the Magic Bus of Stories, which will travel around his native land of New Jersey, to the sites where his stories happened, as he tells them.
The bus will depart at 10 AM from the UCB Theatre and return between 4pm and 5 PM.
We will first head to New Brunswick, NJ--the site of Gethard's alma mater, Rutgers University--where we'll see the dorm where he hatched a plot to beat up a Canadian, and the houses where he started a secret society, almost killed a man, and got another human's diarrhea on his chest. AND MORE.
From there we'll head to his hometown, West Orange, where we'll visit all of his childhood homes (including the one where he lost his virginity) as well as the park where his dad tried to kill a gang of local hooligans.
We'll swing through Montclair to check out the apartment building he took a shit in the hallway of before heading to Buttonwood and the infamous Weird NJ site where Chris almost got raped in the woods. The evening will end at a very special location with some friends from Gethard's past.
On the way to each city, Gethard will tell the tales associated with that town. Then, we'll visit the spots mentioned, oftentimes on a walking tour with a megaphone, and sometimes through drive-bys on the bus.
Food will not be provided during the trip, but there will be two options to stop. The first is the grease trucks at Rutgers, home of the world famous fat sandwiches. The second will be Jimmy Buff's in West Orange, NJ, home of the Italian hot dog. These will happen within a few hours of each other, so there's options for early afternoon and late afternoon eating. Eating at both spots might kill you, it's a lot of grease.
Recording devices are welcomed. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring money for food or pack your own lunch.
This show will feature "guest stars" including childhood friends of Gethard, family members, and his current psychotherapist. Special thanks to Gethard's Facebook fanclub, Gethard's Gethtards, for the inspiration behind this trip, and Justin Purnell.
THE BUS WILL LEAVE PROMPTLY AT 10AM. IF YOU ARE NOT ON THE BUS, YOU WILL BE LEFT BEHIND.
**THERE ARE NO REFUNDS.**
