The UCB Theatre Presents the Fall 2010 UK Invasion

The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre will feature several exclusive shows and events featuring comedians from the United Kingdom in September and October. Comics scheduled to appear include Josie Long (London), Cambridge Footlights (Cambridge), Tom Allen (London), Francesca Martinez (London) and Simon Amstell .

Our September schedule features the following must-see UK acts:

Josie Long: Be Honourable - Be Honourable! is about trying to be a saint, strangers, politics, complacency and breakfast. The show's aim is to provoke people into changing the world. If you like breakfast, but not the idea of the rest, you'll be pleased to know that the breakfast bit is at the start, freeing up the second half for your own private thoughts. Josie is earnest and full of optimism. It's a ramshackle call-to-arms. Monday, September 27th at 9:30pm.

'What great comedy should be. Inspired and inspiring'
- Metro

'One of the most exciting female comics around'
- The Telegraph

'Excellent timing, delivery and an obvious ability as a performer...you'd have to have a heart of stone not to leave with a broad smile on your face'
- The Stag

And the following acts will be appearing on our stage in October:

Cambridge Footlights - The Cambridge Footlights are the world-famous comedy troupe who first aired the talents of some of the foremost British comedians and actors of this century, based in the ADC Theatre in Cambridge. http://footlights.org/index.html. Friday, October 1st at 7:30pm.

Tom Allen Toughens Up - Tom Allen nearly had a fight. It involved a misunderstanding with a big man at a family party. How he dealt with it was impressive. And deadly. Tom has always been afraid of what other people think about him. And he’s pretty unsure what he thinks about himself. He’s posh, pedantic, ‘charming and dapper’ (The Telegraph), bald and gay. But is that all? His family are from South London and don’t really understand him at all. Most of all he wants to be accepted – and not get into fights. And he wants to make you laugh – no matter how tough you are. Monday, October 11th at 9:30pm.

Francesca Martinez: Live in New York - Star of HBO's 'EXTRAS', Francesca Martinez, brings her hit show to New York for one night only! An award-winning British comedian, Francesca has performed sell-out dates in Hollywood, London, Edinburgh, Sydney, Melbourne, Cape Town and at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. A regular on TV and radio, Francesca has also supported Ricky Gervais, Russell Brand and Eddie Izzard, and is currently working on her own BBC sitcom. Hilarious, hard-hitting and, yes, a bit wobbly... This is groundbreaking comedy for the heart and the head! Friday, October 15th at 7:30pm

"Highly accomplished. Tackles taboos and makes you laugh like nobody else can. Radiant, challenging and, above all, very funny"
-Time Out London

"A challenging and hilarious act. She is intelligent, insightful, immensely likeable and charmingly dangerous"
-Sunday Herald

"This is one show you must see. Brilliant"
-Rip It Up Adelaide

Simon Amstell - Like everyone else, Simon Amstell will die. However before that, he will be performing stand-up comedy. Please do not attend if the dates clash with something in your own life. Wednesday, October 13th and Thursday, October 14th at 8pm

"Intellectually sophisticated, engagingly honest, genuinely accomplished stand-up."
-The Scotsman

"Glimmering intelligence."
-Independent On Sunday

"As close as you can get to a man emotionally and philosophically disembowelling himself on stage."
-The Sunday Time
